About Us
Background
Recreate-Auckland is a charitable trust aiming to provide a wide range of skill-based learning and supported recreational opportunities for people with disabilities living in the greater Auckland area.
The Trust was originally set up in early February 2002 by NZCCS Auckland as a hosted initiative by that agency and was formally registered as an independent body on 31 May 2002. While the historical links with NZCCS remain, Recreate Auckland has an independent Trust Board which is autonomous from NZCCS in its organisation and governance.
The Trust Board is made up of seven individuals who are involved in the disability sector or are parents of children with disabilities. The Trust maintains a commitment to biculturalism and is keen to increase opportunities for disabled Maori both in the area of recreational participation and in the governance of Recreate-Auckland.
